Project Details

Full Depth Reclamation Project in Santa Barbara, CA

Full depth reclamation is an asphalt technique that involves pulverizing the section of pavement that needs repair to stabilize and recycle the existing material. This is one of the greenest paving techniques out there since it completely recycles the existing pavement. GPM completed a 101,915 square foot full depth reclamation project on the West Camino road in Santa Barbara, CA.

Since this was a full depth reclamation project, we started by pulverizing the existing asphalt up to about 4″ thick. We then graded and compacted the pulverized materials, removing excess spoils as needed. The project was finished by paving and compacting 3″ of hot mix asphalt pavement over the prepared surface. As you can see in the before and after photos, the full depth reclamation transformed the asphalt, making it look new again.
